Session 41

Solzak is making his way through the warrens toward the toothcutters hideout when he is warned by his tyrs eye ‘shadow’ that there is danger ahead. Before he has chance to react however he realises he is surrounded as each alley is blocked by a couple of small feral looking creatures, snickering and giggling to themselves in low grating voices. Solzak stands motionless but as he does so a dart comes screeching from the darkness and buries itself in his arm. Solzak winces from the pain but quickly removes it realising all too quickly that it must be poisoned. A pain shoots down his arms but then it dies down signalling he caught it in time
Another dart lands in the other arm and solzak grits his teeth demanding the creatures show themselves.
Two arrows fly down from the roof and two creatures squeal and go down before the other 5 rush out into the streets, they are halflings! Ruincreepers – Solzak curses to himself.
on the ziggurat, belgoi facing the group as the caller rang his bell once more drawing frost toward him
one of the necromancers who had been chanting suddenly breaks into a fit of spasms and fires bolts of dark energy, one of which hits the caller who howls in anger and pain
Frost is surrounded and the hunters close in when his tattoos suddenly light up and he doubles back as if hit by a bolt of lightning. A large ghostly shape of a roaring animal appears over his head. The ringing bells of the belgoi taunt this beast trying to pull it toward them but the beast roars back
In the confusion Eben makes a break for it, running as fast as he can down the ziggurat steps, heading towards the warrens shouting at Frost to get out now!
Frost takes the opportunity to slip from the clutches of the Belgoi and also runs down the pyramid steps past both Eben and Orsk
The three of them flee, heading for the warrens, hundreds of slaves crowd the streets as desperate templars and overseers try to regain control. On top of the ziggurat the Belgoi scream a horrid ear piercing screech which causes many of the slaves still remaining on the upper tiers to drop their heads and give in to their masters…
Jekall, having left the area already makes his way through the back streets of the artisan district trying to avoid the most obvious areas of conflict.
He rounds a corner and then comes face to face with a wild eyed templar. The templar is twitchy and nervous. Jekall tries to calm him down but the templar does not trust him seeing him as a liar and thief. The templar begins casting a spell but before he finishes Jekall pierces his mind causing a distraction and quickly rushes past
Carefully continuing Jekall eventually arrives at the hideout of the toothcutters and attempts to get a message to the toothcutter superiors that a revolutionary council is being formed for the deposing of King Kalak, should the toothcutters want a piece of ‘new tyr’ so to speak they should come to the drunken giant in a few hours time where plans will be discussed. The toothcutters are concerned about the Ruincreeper halflings which have encroached upon their territory, in fact they have received urgent messages that one of their safehouses close to the border of the ruincreepers territory has been taken by the halflings, if Jekall and whomever he trusts could aid them in securing back this valuable turf then the toothcutters would be more amenable to discussing what to do about the king – for now they are more concerned about their own, Jekall ponders this as he begins to make his way back toward the tyrs ears safehouse when around the corner Solzak appears, his cloak splattered with fresh blood
halflings, is his reply
The two discuss what they know and Solzak recalls this is the group he was assigned to clear out of the warrens previously by the toothcutters. They decide to investigate and if they are up to the task to take the hideout back themselves…
Eben, Frost, Drax and Orsk make their way with what slaves they can gather towards the warrens after bidding farewell to Mee-Lana and the free, who is to inform her master to come to the meeting and represent the interests of the free
Whilst the chaos continues on the ziggurat there is enough cover for the group to move about relatively unhindered, until they reach a small square close to the elven market where they find several slave wagons loading up with those caught by city guard
Eben bravely steps up after recognising the leader as a member of the scarlet helms he had served with many moons ago. The two talk and through some great negotiation skills the soldiers call off the captuing of these slaves and agree to help eben and the group to incite greater rebellion
Together they then make their way deeper into the warrens heading for any area they could call ‘safe’ Eventually they reach a group of buildings within the territory of the toothcutters which they know they will be able to defend. Eben and the guard organise the slaves with what little they have in terms of weaponry and instruct them on the weakest points of their structure which needed be defendable and then set to defence themselves knowing full well that they would have little chance against a full assault
From here on the group split once more, Eben heads to house vordon in order to liase with thaxos whilst Orsk and Frost head to the Orphanage of Arizalda to ensure that neebit and the other street kids are safe and also to move them to their more protected safehouse
Jekall and Solzak make their way back through the warrens towards the toothcutter safehouse, as they approach Solzak’s ‘Shadow’ warns of Danger ahead. The two then spot small creatures moving in the shadows – the halflings they presume! They both cling to the shadows themselves and waiting for the opportune moment Solzak loads a crossbow bolt and carefully administers a dose of one of his previously prepared poisons
Swinging around the corner he fires off a shot, silent and deadly there is a flash of crimson in the dark and the creature falls flat on its back. Without a moments pause Jekall too springs out and, concentrating on the remaining two finds his way into their minds and floods them with information and power. In mere moments they are overloaded and – like the sound of a mango when it is dropped from a great height – their heads explode!
Solzak signals to his shadow to split off slightly from them and go around to the south of the hideout to provide covering fire as he and Jekall make their way further along the winding streets
