Session 44

  • The table set, there is some talk and romilla takes frost aside to speak to him about something. They return with very serious expressions…
  • the meeting begins, chaired by solzak. The aims of the revolution, to remove kalak and his templars from power and enable Tyr to become a state free from slavery and tyranny
  • To his left Ktandeo of House Atrius. Wearing a blue silken robe and a large pale blue turban with a single large topaz in the centre, decorated with a colourful feather. His motions are twitchy and he has a nervous look about him as if he is expecting to be attacked at any moment. He is unhappy with Kalak and the constant bother from templars, they can offer what soldiers he has left (around 200)to help recapture the mines and engage in whatever missions the council deems appropriate (within reason). His reasons for coming were spurred by several recent attempts on his life. He wants to live in fear no longer
  • Next are the Sky singers represented by Yrkoon Dawnchaser and supported by Naraaku. Yrkoon wears his jet black straight hair shoulder length with large bone shoulder pads protecting his fragile but athletic frame. Beneath this are simple leathers that serve to facilitate movement whilst offering a reasonable protection. The singers are now unofficially at war with house Stel (both spit at the mention of the house) mostly due to the evidence of the kidnapping and murder of Singers in their Nibernese market home. They desire that the templars no longer bother them in their markets but feel less fear than most of the sorcerer king. So long as this plan includes the ridding of Stel from Tyr the arrangement will be agreeable for the Sky Singers. They have 50 warriors which will be usable by the council for revolutionary activities. Their initial task it is decided is to guard the farmlands of House Atrius against the Gnolls south of Tyr to free the soldiers to help with the assault on the mines
  • Next, Brevin and Mee-Lana of the free state their desire to live in an equal and slave-free city where the freemen have a say in laws and who governs them. There is a murmur from the nobles at this point but as Brevin scowls at them and continues that they have established a home beneath tyr and offer their community as shelter for the escaped slaves as no building in the warrens is safe from templar gaze or influence. This is on the understanding that all who live their agree to abide by their rules of respect and equality to one another. They also offer the services of their 200 brethren and 50 able fighters. Brevin and Mee-Lana are modestly dressed at best wearing not much more than rags and piecemeal armours scavenged from past victories. Brevin looks fresh faced – if a little plump as signs of good living and correct posture indicate a more well-bred background. Mee-lana is athletic and although physically attractive is strong and stern from a life time of hardship, she has the look of an ex-slave.
  • Sitting next to Brevin is Argorr of the toothcutters, a giant of a man at nearly 7ft. Nodding to Brevin he says he has had his brushes with slavery and does not like it any more than the next man but any ‘new Tyr’ still needs structure, and wealth (being a thief as he is). The toothcutters offer shelter and limited protection whilst in the warrens but they are stretched as it is defending against the ruincreepers so can offer little more, they are also not soldiers and do not fight in wars
  • Helandrez is next, looking a little flustered but proud nonetheless and dressed in clothing more suitable to a merchant rather than the rags he was in before. He states that as representative of House Vordon he cannot commit the forces of the house at this time as Vordon are being very cautious in their support due to their current position as third in the ‘pecking order’ of Tyr below the templars and Kalak. They have offered to open a dummy house called ‘House Troika’ through which all dealings with the revolution members will be made in secret. The prices will be fixed at cost price, no less as to do so would not only arouse suspicion with other merchants but would be too expensive for the house
  • Little kovia of the tyrs eyes is next, a young half elf dressed as a street entertainer and covered with a bluish paint. Her hair held in 3 bunches and under her eyes silver dust. She explains that Tyrs eyes cannot give soldiers but can offer their services through her of information gathering and dissemination, something that in a revolution could prove of critical importance
  • The eyes of the table fall on the pair of mages, athrialix and romilla who is introduced as one of the council of elders for the veil. Romilla is soft spoken and looks like a delicate desert flower beneath her heavy concealing robes. There is an undeniable power and presence to her voice however and as she speaks all listen. She congratulates the efforts of the group so far and they have done more to upset the balance of power in Tyr that they have so far achieved – to which there is a low growl and sneer from athrialix. She says that they were hoping by now that Aegis of asticles would have returned from the halfling villages to bring news of a way to defeat kalak but they are beginning to come to terms with the fact that something terrible may have happened. Nevertheless she and the veil are glad that others are prepared to take up arms and work towards freeing tyr from the tyranny of kalak! Athrialix explains that the veil still have plans to try to delay or sabotage the ziggurat but that so far the opportunity to do so has not arisen as the structure seems to be near impregnable. A small team has been formed however who will strike when the time is right. With a swift prod from Romilla, Athrialix is prompted to add ’until then they will work with the revolutionary council and help in any way possible.
  • zafir quaffing from a skin of broy wipes his hand across his lips and in a booming but melancholic voice reminisces about a time when tyr was free of the looming shadowing monstrosity that is the ziggurat and that things, although still under the iron grip of kalak were much better. Today he was able to round up 30 able and willing soldiers, with mounts too. Tomorrow he would do the same, for the sake of restoring Tyr to glory and not the whims of an egotistical madman! With that he takes another quaff of his drink, his ruddy cheeks and nose swelling with the warmth of the broy and his great scar seems to calm and he looks younger once more
  • rathoras quay is a young, mid 20s human wearing a mask made from straps of leather criss-crossing his face, his hair is gelled high with grease and purple dyes. He wears a tight fitted tunic of silk, carefully selected from the fashions of Tyr, proudly displaying an athletic build and a light sword by his side. Looking around somewhat suspicious and a little nervous (though trying not to show it) he speaks of his house, Kavarin of whom Jekall knows well. He is brief and to the point, the council have their full support and they will lend what assets and men they have available for the endeavours of the council. He then as an aside says to Jekall they will speak of more details later
  • Solzak concludes the meeting and together they organise how they will return to the surface. Athrialix and Romilla offer to take the nobles whilst the rest, more familiar with the warrens, can make their own way or follow
*Before they depart jekall speaks to Argorr and Rathoras speaks to Jekall in private
*As they all get up to leave frost notices Naraaku helping himself to the money pouches of the nobles. Frost is outraged and demands naraaku give the stolen goods back, beginning to create a scene. Yrkoon arrives and sticks up for naraaku as frost begins to get more heated and passionate that naraaku should return what he stole. Eventually Orsk wades in and tries to intimidate naraaku, who laughs off the comments and manages to slink away with his ill gotten gains…
  • Meanwhile, the slaves led by Chemal and Catalina are busy sorting out their base of operations in the warrens when a voice is heard calling at them all from outside. The voice is reassuring if a little odd and says that they are not safe here and the group will take them to a safe location. Some of the more nervous slaves begin to move out towards them, feeling the urge to leave with the mysterious strangers. The leader holds forth a large standard that bears a strange circular symbol, in its centre it is split into two halves of a circle, the top half is dominated by a sculpted image depicting what looks to be wavy lines or vines coming out from the centre whereas the lower half seems to be made up of horizontal wavy lines much more akin to sand dunes
  • The mysterious figures shout more warnings that the slaves must leave now while they can, for even now the tyrian army and templars surround the warrens and are closing in
  • A shot rings out from the gladiators and one of the cloaked figures is killed outright
  • another of the gladiators reaches over and blocks the crossbow that took the shot, preventing them from shooting another as more slaves begin to stir and move towards the sound of the voices
  • suddenly another shot rings out and this time as the stranger falls his cloak is unfurled to reveal scales! Ssurrans! A cry goes up from the slaves as they dive for cover and the lead cloaked figure begins to chant in a horrid dark language
  • Chimal and the brotherhood bark orders as they take up positions on the roof * the small group of equipped fighters leaps forth to defend the base as best they can. The ssurrans are skilled and vicious fighters, for a while the brotherhood look shaky as the ssurran shaman calls a wicked curse on one of the warriors causing him to turn away from the companions but luckily this is short-lived and as the last Ssurran is struck down they breathe an uneasy sigh of relief, contemplating the words of the ssurran shaman and this night, bathed in red from the fires that burn elsewhere in the city…
